Orange Julius began with a guy who really likes oranges in 1926. It was Julius Freed who started the business and really like oranges so much. He opened his own orange juice stand, but sales were slow that time. Julius had a friend named Bill Hamlin who is also interested about oranges. But oranges upset Bill’s stomach, so he came up with an idea to blend orange juice with some selected ingredients to reduce its acidity. This also makes the juice delicious and frothy. The drink was introduced to Julius by Bill. Then when Julius introduced the drink to his store, it quickly spread out all over the community making store lined up with lots of customers. Since then, an original juice was born and sales of the store increased.

The people at Dairy Queen were also captivated by the inexplicable and irresistible taste of their juice. So in 1987, Dairy Queen bought the company and became its fully owned subsidiary.
