Myhre’s Sandwich Shop & Poutinerie
Myhre’s Sandwich Shop & Poutinerie has provided diners with the complete meat shop experience since it started chopping and preparing meat in 2002. Brad Myhre, a long-time fan of Montreal’s famed smoked meat restaurants, wanted to open a spot where Calgarians could indulge in an authentic deli lunch without having to fly five hours. Wilensky’s, a Montreal landmark immortalized in Mordecai Richler’s novel The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, influenced the deli’s dazzling wooden walls and tables. They are open every Monday to Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Generous amount of meat with a good amount of fat on it in between some decent rye bread. The coleslaw and pickle really help cut the richness and round out the meal. Lazy Loaf & Kettle is owned and operated by Michel and Helen Labonté. They developed the Lazy Loaf and Kettle into the flourishing company it is today by relying on recipes passed down over decades and being bold enough to concoct a couple of their own. The popularity of the Lazy Loaf, which has grown from 2 to over 30 workers in 20 years, shows the Labontés had the right formula by beginning with and sticking to home-grown ingredients. Press’d Sandwich Shop is a timeless staple in Canada. It’s a story about a search to find people what they really want for lunch: the ultimate sandwich, set on basketball courts and food courts. Gavin Fedorak and Scott Gordon, two University of Arizona basketball teammates, were in Phoenix in the mid-2000s, finding solace in sandwiches following an especially lopsided loss to the Arizona State Sun Devils. The food they found was wonderful freshly cooked bread stuffed with high-quality meats, cheese, and vegetables. They were filling and reasonably priced, and the whole encounter turned out to be a victory for the boys after their defeat on the court. It also ignited the beginning of an idea for their businessmen.
