Sherlock Holmes Pub

Sherlock Holmes Pub
Sherlock Holmes Pub is a component of the Sherlock Holmes Hospitality Group, which is locally owned and managed. As a neighborhood bar, they want to serve their customers with high-quality food that is either made in-house or bought from local companies. They use fresh bread from nearby bakeries, cheese from Whyte Avenue’s Cheese Factory, and Cumberland sausage from Old Country Meats. Moreover, the company wishes to give back to the community by continuing charitable engagement with ACF (Alberta Cancer Foundation) for Ovarian Cancer Research. They’ve also made a pledge to reduce their environmental impact by eliminating straws, using compostable take-out containers and cutlery, and recycling their cooking oil by Redux.

“Been coming here for about 16 years on and off, always a great atmosphere, and best pub food I’ve had in Edmonton. So, Id like to say all the staff are great….but special shout out to Caine, who is the BIZNESS when it comes to slinging drinks. He treats us well when we come, remembers us, which is huge….so hang in there peeps, hopefully this will be the last time you’re closed down…..and thanks Caine for that little surprise last night 😉👍😎” – John McGarry

Kelly’s Pub

Kelly's Pub
Kelly’s Pub all started in 2002 with a cliche: a girl with a dream. Kelly’s idea of being a flight attendant did not work out, so she opted to put her skills to use by starting a pub.  Presently, the “dream” lives on in a brand new location on 104th Street in the heart of Downtown. Friends will gather at Kelly’s Pub, business deals can be made, and sports will still be on. Kelly’s is the spot to be if you want to indulge in a fine pint, a bottle of wine, cocktail, specialty coffee, or tantalize your taste buds with a delectable dinner.

REVIEWS:

“Kim asked a table if they lived together as they had 3 adults and kids. She was very professional and asked them to separate. No arguments and great to see this being observed by a small family pub that we love. Great job Kim!!! Great job to Kelly’s pub!!” – Chelsey Robinson

Duggan’s Boundary Irish Pub

Duggan's Boundary Irish Pub
Duggan’s Boundary Irish Pub was founded in May of 2008. Duggan’s Boundary, a common gathering place for locals young and old, is situated in the quaint Bonnie Doon neighborhood across from the Faculté Ste. Jean campus. You’ll think you’re in Ireland when you arrive at this lovely restaurant, with its warm woodland, cozy seats, and excellent Irish cuisine. The name was inspired by J.J. Duggan, one of the City of Strathcona’s first mayors. The bar runs parallel 91 St, also known as Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury, which was the old city’s boundary line. Furthermore, if the weather permits, you can unwind on the pub’s newly renovated patio.

“Very cute and cozy pub. I had an enjoyable experience here as I visited with friends after an event. I tried a few appetizers and they were fine/good. The place was very lively with live music. My only slight criticism would be that it took awhile to get refills. Otherwise, I definitely would recommend this establishment!” – Natasha Myette

The Black Dog Freehouse

The Black Dog Freehouse
The Black Dog Freehouse has loaded a special void in Old Strathcona and Edmonton by generating an atmosphere unlike any other since 1992. Since its inception, The Black Dog has seen a positive correlation between cutting-edge campaigns and its conservative roots. It has long served as a sanctuary for people from all walks of life, regardless of social standing. It’s a venue where young and old, suits and jeans, can unwind and enjoy themselves without the negative connotations that most bars have. In addition, the new addition of an accessible second floor next to the patio allows for a different Black Dog experience during the year.

REVIEWS:

“The Black Dog is my favourite place for a pint of beer in all of Edmonton. Open from 2PM to 2AM every day of the week, it is home to the most interesting cross-section of patrons one could imagine. The bar tenders are all friendly, honest, and great conversationalists. As a bonus, you can almost always get a pint of beer for $4, and on Sundays, Big Rock pints are only $3.75, which make them the same price as when I was an undergrad! Highly recommended.” – Sandy Cooper

Brewsters Oliver Square

Brewsters Oliver Square
Brewsters Oliver Square has been perfecting the craft of brewing in Western Canada for more than 25 years. Brewsters was founded by Michael Lanigan in 1989, long before small-batch brewing became common. Their batches aren’t as small as they used to be because they’re a second-generation family firm. However, the thought that got them moving is still driving them today. It’s a fairly straightforward formula: mix handcrafted beer with an exceptional dining experience. They are also one of Alberta’s oldest local breweries, with nine restaurants throughout the province, thanks to the recipe.
