“Five stars on bang for buck on this one. There are still some ongoing repairs/upgrades at time of writing, but well worth the stop. Nice open fairways to bomb big drives, greens were fast and in great shape, and some aesthetically really nice holes. Good clubhouse for a public course. I will be back.” – Nate Powell

“Notwithstanding the frost delay today, what a pleasant experience. The course is a bit shorter than some, but just the right level of challenge for a higher handicap golfer. Well maintained and surprisingly nice for a municipal owned and operated club. The price at $61 a round is a super deal. We will be back.” – Jean Corbeil
Calgary Golf & Country Club
Calgary Golf & Country Club is Alberta’s oldest private golf course that is still in use. The Calgary Golf & Country Club was founded in 1897 and moved to its fourth and current location on the banks of the Elbow River in 1909. Play commenced in 1911, after the club had previously played across three different rudimentary courses on property to which it had no ownership. The club recruited the services of renowned Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. in 1922 for a princely amount of $1500 to turn the golf course into the design that it is today, which was originally planned out by American architect Tom Bendelow in 1911.

“One of my favorite courses in Calgary. Great price for a great game. Challenging but not deadly, even brought my 12 year old out once who’s starting to golf and he had lots of fun and could get around the course. Happy to keep coming back.” – Drew M
