Perth’s
Perth’s was started in Winnipeg over a century ago. Around 1914, Nathan Portnoy, a Russian immigrant, began working at Fort Garry Cleaners and Tailors. He founded Portnoy Brothers Cleaners after returning from WWI duty. There have been a lot of mergers and acquisitions over the years. In 1953, Nathan’s son, Iser, took over the company. The firm was sold to an executive group in the late 1980s. Stewart Leibl, the general manager of Sunshine Uniform, a Perth’s subsidiary, became the company’s primary owner and president in 1992. Leibl sold the company to Terrell Stephen of The Stephen Group Inc. in September 2012, and the company is still run as Perth’s.
