Gus and Yogi, the owners, had the idea to create a socially aware concept that served vegan and vegetarian food where practicable, all materials are sourced locally and are organic. A full menu of expertly made drinks, a decent wine list, and a range of local craft beers are all available. Moreover, the room’s distinct elegance makes for an excellent atmosphere to spend the whole day in.

“Heirloom is excellent. Our server (Leslie) was lovely, helpful and patient with us. The food is excellent, the wine spectacular, and the ambience is really great for a small evening out. We felt taken care of but like our space was respected as well. Highly recommend. Thanks again to Leslie for being such an excellent server!” – Sarah Abele-Jacksties

“First time at Acorn for my monthly dinner with my girlfriends. Definitely delicious food and great presentation! They change their menu every 2-4 weeks if I understood currently, so I’ll be stoked to try something new. Going on our list of regular restaurants.” – Shadan Sargent
MeeT on Main
MeeT on Main was established in 2013 by three Vancouver restaurant alumni. Jason Antony, Ivo Staiano, and Linda Antony have all worked in the food industry for over 25 years, and have been close friends for over 20 of those years. “Excellent customer service!! When our delivery order arrived we noticed they had forgotten our salad. I called to let them know, thinking maybe they would comp us a salad on our next order, but they went above and beyond to make it right. The GM literally drove to our house to drop off our salad and gave us a complimentary dessert!! We’ve been loving Meet on Main for their delicious vegan comfort food for ages, but now we are beyond impressed. We know they won’t always be able to do things like this for their customers (we definitely got lucky tonight), but this extra effort shows how much they care. We are happy to support this restaurant during Covid and will continue to be patrons in the years to come.” – Shivani Wells
The Naam is the oldest natural food restaurant in the region. It was originally intended to be a meeting spot where people could come to experience “the good life.” They remain true to their original vision by remaining small, using fresh and pure ingredients, and maintaining a warm, homey, and friendly family-run environment. They’ve been serving vegetarian and vegan meals for over 50 years and can cater to a variety of nutritional requirements. You can enjoy their tofu and tempeh made right here in the Fraser Valley, organic Yukon Gold potatoes, pure organic Canadian maple syrup, organic blueberries, and so much more.

“This is my favourite vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver near UBC. I often visit this place for having the quesadilla platter which has huge portion size good enough for 2 people. The food is mild/ less spicy , very fresh , and tastes delicious. Their miso gravy sauce tastes delicious. I have tried their nachos, pizza, burritos as well. Overall this place is highly recommended for vegetarian dishes.” – Asmita Chakraborty
Bandidas Taqueria opened its doors to an amazingly accepting culture in 2009. They worked with a small crew for 16 hours a day, soaking in dirty dishes and running out of food at night. Their friends joined in to wash plates, bus tables, and make tortillas amid their promises that they could do it all. They recruited them as well after realizing how much they needed rest. They’ve come a long way from that shabby taco stand. Their menu has grown, but they still make it all from scratch. The limes for their margaritas are squeezed every day, and the tortillas are pressed just minutes before serving. Their community’s love and generosity are still felt, but they can now rely on their 40+ loyal staff to keep the operation running smoothly.

“We loved this restaurant, it has an old rustic feel and amazing food. We were served by a new staff and she was so wonderful. Ordered small nachos, 5 tacos 🌮🌮 and some dips. The serving of small nachos was so big that a family of 4 could easily eat. We will definitely go there again.PS: It’s a vegetarian Mexican restaurant, a vegetarian’s paradise 💃” – Suneesha Arora
