Ruth’s Chris Steak House
Ruth’s Chris Steak House has a divinely basic, but uncommonly magical way of reaching people with real kindness, the way food, love, and people just fit together in New Orleans, where the legend was born. The original Chris’ Steak House burned down in 1976, damaging the restaurant and putting Ruth in a tough situation. Ruth, on the other hand, was astute, and she grew to trust her intuition.
Ruth moved forward, and within seven days she was back in operation in a new spot-on Broad Street in New Orleans, just four blocks north. Ruth called her restaurant “Ruth’s Chris Steak House” after being tired of guests naming her Chris and not wanting to risk her loyal client base who knew the restaurant by its former name.
