Le Magasin du Chaînon has been carried by compassionate people in the past eighty-five years. Yvonne Maisonneuve, the organization’s founder, dedicated herself to a cause she felt was just important, which is helping women in need. After that, devoted collaborators arrive to lend a hand and volunteer to help Yvonne Maisonneuve with her work. These urban missionaries laid the groundwork for Le Chaînon, which has grown into Quebec’s primary shelter for women in distress. The way they communicate, interfere and collaborate reflects their society. The person who is impacted by these services is at the center of all decisions and policies implemented in the group.

They also haven’t (yet!) succumbed to the “we think we’re really an antique store” pricing of the similar, but vastly inferior, Salvation Army store close by in NDG.
