MCC Thrift Shop
MCC Thrift Shop operated in March 1972. This was established by Linie Friesen, Selma Loewen, Susan Giesbrecht, and Sara Stoesz with the hope that the project could last three to six months. In a convenient shopping venue, they sell inexpensive, high-quality clothes and household goods in great conditions. Over 40 years later, their vision for the innovative use of local clothes and household surpluses has developed into a network of more than 100 stores in North America, creating revenue for Mennonite Central Committee services.

“Well organized, fantastic prices, and super friendly staff and volunteers. Had a lovely conversation this morning with one of the ladies at the front till, who politely helped me locate what I needed in the store and answered my questions. They also have a really good selection of furniture especially if you go early in the day, and occasionally have silent auction items. Have never had a bad experience here and it’s a pleasure supporting this business!” – Natalie Channon
Mission Thrift Store
Mission Thrift Store is a charitable, non-denominational Christian group with more than 50 thrift shops across Canada. They have used items for value-conscious shoppers in a department store-like setting. Wanting to create a better place for others, their shops turn donated items into funds, and the net income is designated to the joint BFM Foundation (Canada) and Bible League Canada ministries. The staff and volunteers agree that everything in life, including shopping, has a greater meaning. It is their goal to save you money, to save the earth and to teach the world about Christ’s saving work.

“Mission Thrift shop is THEE best thrift in EDMONTON. Always a Great selection of Everything. The clothes are Always in Excellent condition and priced lower then most thrift shops. If it is priced a little higher, it is because it is a higher brand name, but still priced, very reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend this store to Everyone. They are open from 11am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday . These hours are due to Covid.” – Pinky Gurl

“The staff is extremely polite, friendly and helpful. I had concerns over taking a large peice of furniture from there, and they will try and accommodate any reasonable request to aid you. I am not a serial thifter, but I do it occasionally to relieve stress because it is mad therapeutic to find quality stuff for cheap, knowing that it is not going to waste and will be reused. Additionally, the proceeds go to a good cause (In this case, Adeara Recovery Centre). But if I do turn out to be a serial thifter, I blame these guys !” – Shiv Menon
Red Pony Consignment
Red Pony Consignment is a small enterprise that is privately owned. They appreciate the value and encouragement of local markets for small enterprises and they are devoted to improving their area and recycling clothes that are not available in the shop to local causes that have an urgent, positive effect on others’ lives. They believe that most quality things have a ton of potential in them, and what one individual can consider out of fashion in their wardrobe is probably the ideal missing piece for another.

“I came into Red Pony’s new location on a whim. I’d been to the old location on 109th Street many times before, but I’d only ever found things for my partner. I found the perfect houndstooth coat to replace my current houndstooth coat, which had a huge hole in the shoulder. The coat was in excellent condition and a very reasonable price. I couldn’t believe how perfectly it fit me! And I have to say – the staff at Red Pony are so lovely! Every time I come in is a surprise so much that I love coming in just to chat about clothes and fashion and repairing old clothes and things like that. I love coming in to chat and also who can resist the amazingly fashionable quality clothes and accessories!” – Stephanie Jonsson

“Impeccable customer service! I was greeted within a minute of coming in the door and told by not 1 but 2 staff members that they were there if I needed anything. Consistently checked up on by staff while shopping but never felt bothered or pushed into buying. Great selection for all budgets too! I will be back for sure.” – Shauna Bruneau
