Via Tevere Pizzeria
Via Tevere Pizzeria aims to honor their family’s history and the art of pizza-making by serving authentic Napoletana pizza. For a balanced flavor, Neapolitan pizza will have limited toppings, and the crust will be finely burnt, mildly chewy, and smooth in the middle. Their pizzas are served uncut, in true Neapolitan tradition, and can be eaten with a knife and fork or by hand. Furthermore, its rustic simplicity, conventional wood-fire cooking form, and celebration of Neapolitan ingredients have all been praised.

“The very best pizza in Vancouver, though everyone has their specific preferences. You can’t go wrong with the Margherita, so definitely start with that. Via Tevere changed my understanding of pizza – I used to eat pizza for the toppings, but that was because I didn’t know good dough! It’s just so crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, full of flavour and downright sweet. The toppings are a compliment to the dough, not the other way around! Truly a hidden, tucked away gem in Vancouver.” – Steve Kim
Pizza Carano began as a modest 18-seat neighborhood pizza joint, opened by Trev in 2013, for fellow residents searching for something a bit different from what was going on across the bridge. They’ve doubled in size in the last year, introduced a professionally stocked kitchen, and developed a unique cocktail, international wine, and truly excellent beer selection to complement. They’ve added new dishes, began serving pranzo which is an Italian for “lunch”, and added a daytime and late-night Happy Hour for all of their extra thirsty visitors.

“This is my local for a pint and excellent pizza. Because the pizza is exceptional, I haven’t ventured into the rest of their menu. On Valentine’s Day, we opted for the set menu and got a chance to sample their apps, salads, and pasta. Amazing meal, always great service. Now I’ll have to decide between exceptional Pizza and delicious pasta on my next visit.” – EatWild Dylan
Ignite Pizzeria Express
Ignite Pizzeria Express began with a love for great pizza. With over a decade’s worth of experience in the food industry, they realized it was time to introduce a new pizza experience to the Vancouver food scene at an affordable price. Ignite Pizzeria’s first venue, on Main Street, officially opened and revved up its first oven in the summer of 2017, serving classic stone-fired pizza in a contemporary atmosphere. The word “ignite” means “to start a fire” in Latin. Every day, a burning desire to delight people in healthy food in a down-to-earth, but sophisticated, environment drives us to open their oven, just like the word ignite, which means “to start fire” in Latin.

“Traveled to Canada from Oregon and walked around, stopped in here for a great experience! The seating and setting is very relaxed and “hipster.” The pizza choices were unique, but simple! I had the chicken pesto and I have never tasted a crust like theirs in my life. 😋 there’s also an option to create your own! Decent price, easy and fun to order! Way to go Ignite Pizzeria 👌🏻” – Aubree
Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria

“Wow!! Such a nice atmosphere in this restaurant and the pizza was delicious! They have a wood burning oven! There’s a lot of options on the menu including appies, pizzas, pastas. They even have vegan options, such as daiya cheese. The service was good and they have safe Covid measures at the moment including taking your name for contact tracing. I highly recommend that you try Famoso if you haven’t already. I’ll definitely be returning.” – Jenn VH
The Firewood Café
The Firewood Café believes they have a very unique restaurant. There are not very many places in the city where you can go and watch your pizza being baked in an actual Italian wood-burning oven. The different types of wood, whether it is cherry, apple or pine lends its own unique flavor to your pizza. They determined that with such a special oven, there had to be gourmet type toppings to add to your pizza to bring out the wonderful firewood flavor.

“This place is our go-to for quality wood fire oven pizzas and pastas. The food is consistently delicious and well packaged. The manager and his team put a lot of care into each order and always have a friendly smile for pickup orders at the restaurant. Don’t forget to order the garlic bread as well… very tasty! The. Best. Garlic bread. Ever!” – Kaho S
