“Great experience! It was busy the night my friend and I came so we waited a little bit to be sat. The waitress was constantly apologizing for the wait and sat us at a table far from from a loud crowd. That was considerate of her and brought us our drinks. A different server came by to give us some dinner rolls which where warm and I liked them! Both servers were very pleasant with small talk. I enjoyed my food and I think the price point was fair. Mercato
Mercato was founded by Victor and Cathy Caracciolo. They found employment as seamstresses and bartenders in the United States after emigrating from Southern Italy in 1961. They opened the Italian Centre Shop, a grocery store in Bridgeland that would become the heart of the community for the next 30 years, after years of hard work and devoted saving. For 46 years, Mercato has stood out for its dedication, ferocious passion, and unsurpassed quality. Victor’s death in 2017 marked the passing of a food and culture icon in Calgary, however, Mamma Cathy is still in the kitchen almost every day at Mercato, cooking fresh dishes for the extended family of clients she adores.

We enjoyed the open kitchen and being able to watch our food cook. We got the tagliatelle pasta and the bistecca and were blown away by both dishes. SS106 Aperitivo Bar first opened its doors in 2016. With an Italian chef, there’s a whole Italian bar. Domenico Spadafora, the owner, opened his restaurant to bring a contemporary style of Italian dining to YYC with genuine flavors.
