“Easily some of the very best gluten free food available! Bagels that are actually so soft and delicious they mimic the real thing! I have to order online because I live in BC but I’ve been to the location in Edmonton and they are doing amazing things with cheese buns, cinnamon rolls, fresh bread, green onion cakes, cookies and seasonal items. I only wish that I could get those things here in Vancouver!” – Chrystal Rock
The Bon Ton Bakery
The Bon Ton Bakery opened in Edmonton in 1956. They are creative and innovative in introducing new products to their shelves while also valuing their roots and traditions. Some of their recipes have stayed largely the same since 1956. Bon Ton’s rye breads, bagels, danishes and gingerbread people have become well-loved traditions for many of their customers.
Their bagels are hand-rolled, then boiled, and then baked for that chewy texture required for an authentic bagel. They work hard to find high-quality ingredients close to home. Bon Ton’s Heritage Organic Sourdough is made with select grains from Gold Forest Grains.

The First Remedy
The owner of The first Remedy purchased a sandwich cafe on 109 Street and 87 Avenue fifteen years ago. Knowing little about how to run a Cafe, he picked it up asked lots of questions to his customers, and started introducing those years of cooking in Pakistan to Edmontonians. Within the first few years, the curries and dishes began taking shape. Lunchtime wraps filled with traditional dishes seemed like the obvious choice for mid-day eaters. Now, Remedy Cafe takes on some of the more traditional dishes but the popularity of wraps, dhosas, and platters prove just how much people love them.
