“Shannons was one of my first pub experiences years back and they’ve set a high standard ever since. I love the grungy basement feel, the food is great and the beer selection is decent. A great space to play pool or darts and some little nooks to have conversation over drinks, too.” – Ashton Sawatzky

The Canadian Brewhouse

The Canadian Brewhouse
The Canadian Brewhouse was a boys’ dream in Edmonton transformed into reality. In the West End of Edmonton, Roger Newton bought an old pool hall with a strong view of what was missing from the City of Champions. There were Irish restaurants, English pubs, and Belgian coffee shops, but there was little that really celebrated Canada’s rich cultural heritage. Combined with his passion for sports, Roger launched The Canadian Brewhouse, West Edmonton’s first ever Canadian Sports Bar. This place has since closed, but it was the beginning of a giant in the service sector.

“Haven’t been here before but heard a lot of good things from others. So decided to try it and I wasn’t disappointed. Fun place to unwind and have a few drinks and a good meal. Meal that we had was a really good deal, fairly priced and tasted really well. Fun to sit at the patio area and enjoy the last bit of summer. Staff very respectful and very friendly. May have to go once again. And if you haven’t you should go there too.” – Larry John Laus

One Great City Brewing Company

One Great City Brewing Company
One Great City Brewing Company is a partnership between two boys from Winnipeg, Jon Burge and Tim Hudek. In their 20s, Jon and Tim were fortunate enough to explore and wander about, enabling them to discover some great food, beer, architecture and style. A blend of high-end cuisine with conventional comfort food that can be enjoyed by anyone. The Chef of OGC, Jon, takes the same caution used in fine dining and extends it to pub food for an inventive menu while staying affordable. Customers can find the menu recognizable but with variations to make it much better for an old favorite.

“Love this place. If you want to support local and enjoy great food, this is the spot. Good selection of beers and cocktails also. Place is very neatly set up and very strictly follows govt recommendations for distancing. Nothing but genuine and personable service from staff. PS if you’re trying the risotto, one of the staff recommended it with chicken. You won’t regret it.” – Ana Lorina
