Alibi Room has evolved into a genuine Free House, serving beers from all across the Lower Mainland, the province, and the world. Raya Audet and Nigel Springthorpe, the Alibi Roomâs proprietors, have been gradually transforming it into a destination for local craft beer on tap since summer 2006.
When it comes to meal matching, they believe beer is just as adaptable as wine. They compile their beer list with care and update it many times a week to ensure they have a diverse selection of the latest and greatest from the best of local breweries. On occasion, theyâll dispense a selection of beers from American microbreweries.

âI came here only for one drink and very impressed with the espresso martini. I lived in Melbourne Australia where they make AMAZING drinks; so I had very high expectations and they delivered! It was extremely creamy, light not too strong, super tasty. I highly recommend! The ambiance is a little bit dark however, went in on a Wednesday night and was very quiet. Great place to relax and have some good conversations without the crazy atmosphere!â â Paula Hlavacek

Pourhouse Restaurant
Pourhouse Restaurant is the personification of a desire to share lifeâs basic pleasures with others. Pourhouse, located just southeast of Gastownâs steam clock, pays homage to century-old drinking and eating traditions. The original construction was made with Douglas fir ceilings, reinforced by huge wood pillars, and brick walls, and was completed in 1910 as the home of the Leckie Boot Company.
Pourhouse is decorated with antiques from the era, as well as custom-made pieces. Pourhouse has a tale with every item. The 38-foot bar is the centerpiece, carefully handmade from 120-year-old Douglas fir boards. No detail is overlooked in the entryway and hallway walls, which are completed with era-inspired textures and gold leaf decoration.

âThis place was awesome. The bartender (Emmett?) made a DELICIOUS boulevardier and filled it right to the brim (photo is post-sip). The music was awesome! Thatâs what brought me inside. Drinks were great. Next time Iâve got a bit of extra cash Iâll be back.â â Gabriella Franco
