Mezes

Mezes
Mezes was envisioned as an extension of our house, a dining room where chosen family dishes would be served to the community they loved. Every meal they offer starts with fresh, traditional ingredients, but the manner they hope those are appreciated is the start of every encounter with them. At Mezes, the emphasis is on sharing; communal eating that turns a meal into a memory. They encourage you to eat the way the Greeks do: order a variety of meals, appreciate diversity, and try everything. Discovering food this way, passing dishes, and surprise your taste, has a lot of energy.

“This was our first dining experience since the lockdown ended, and we were not disappointed. Rather, it was the exact opposite. The food was exceptional. I would list recommendations, but everything was incredible. The service was also top notch. Right from our first greeting to paying the bill, they were very cordial and kept a great attitude, even in the midst of a busy evening. Thank you, Mezes. We will be coming back soon!” – Paras Kadakia

Messini Authentic Gyros

Messini Authentic Gyros
Messini Authentic Gyros is owned in operated by Marinos Dafnas. In 2003, he opened Messini’s as a sit-down restaurant with table service, based on a gyro recipe developed by his uncle, a restaurateur, in 1969. After checking out the Danforth, where everyone was serving souvlaki but no one was offering authentic gyros, he spotted a potential for such a place. Their key was to use French fries in these amazing masterpieces, a family recipe that has been passed down for at least 30 years. In addition, the genuine gyros at Messini’s are served with French fries, as is the case in many Greek cities, particularly Messini.

REVIEWS:

“Quite possibly the best Greek restaurant in all of Toronto, if not all of Canada. This restaurant on the Danforth is an absolute gem, showcasing authentic and flavourful Greek food at a very reasonable price. I’ve tried all of the pork, chicken, and mixed lamb/beef gyro and it’s honestly difficult to pick a favourite. Their salads are also prepared with super fresh greens. They also offer very quick service, so the wait is never too long. Drop by for a visit sometime!” – Justin Su

“A great family owned spot for takeout or for picking up meals to make at home. The staff and owners are always so friendly & the slow roasted chicken gyros are amazing. They also have a selection of items (soups, slow roasted pulled meats, chicken etc) that are vacuum sealed and frozen for meals at home. Their pitas are amazing and made fresh every day – I always grab an extra bag to have at home. Highly recommend if you want to support a local spot with great food.” – Bridget Bicknell

“The food and experience was amazing! My server could tell I hadn’t much authentic Greek food, so he helped me out with my order and assured me it would be a big portion, and taste fantastic, and he was absolutely right! Leftovers for tomorrow plus some honey cake is always a win for me ” – Roslyn Kufuor
